Official Export Health certificate.

This must be applied for from DEFRA and is sent to the LVI (vet) that you nominate 10 days prior to export. Dependent on the country involved you will have to take your pet(s) to the LVI at some point between 10 days prior and 2 days prior to the flight so that the vet can do any final treatments and sign up the Export Health Certificate. With Australia and New Zealand you will have to take your pets to the vet a couple of times prior to this (but within 30 days of the flight) for blood tests (dogs to Australia and New Zealand), hookworm tests (cats and dogs to New Zealand) and treatments.

FTF† - Fitness to fly certificate.

This is a document/letter provided by any vet describing your pet(s) and confirming that on the date they were examined they were deemed to be free of clinical signs of disease and of a satisfactory condition to be transported by air. It should state the name of the owner and address, the destination airport and final destination address. The certificate is valid for up to 10 days (but is dependent on the airline - some deem certificates to be valid only for 2 days).
